For Safety Group Inc. was founded to address the critical challenges posed by advanced technologies — with particular attention to the systemic and existential risks associated with AGI and ASI.
Our work moved from studying the risk to building enforceable infrastructure: systems designed to keep identity, authority and high-consequence action connected to physical reality.
The name changed as the mission became more concrete. The long-horizon objective did not.
Niclas Braun founded the company after becoming frustrated with the limits of purely model-internal approaches to advanced-AI risk. The starting point was a search for safeguards that could remain meaningful even as intelligence became more capable and autonomous.

The work began under Lumina Spes — “light of hope” — as a broader effort to understand exponential-technology risk and build systems that could help society remain in control alongside advanced intelligence.

The surrounding curve represents a safety field: a structure designed so that disturbance produces a restoring force rather than uncontrolled departure.
At the lowest-energy point, small deviations do not compound. They are driven back toward equilibrium. In physics, stability is not the absence of disturbance; it is the property that determines what a system does after disturbance occurs.
Niclas Braun founded 4SI to turn a frontier-AI control question into infrastructure that can be evaluated in the physical world. His work connects long-horizon risk analysis with security, systems design and institutional deployment.
