Questions about Presence.
Clear answers about Presence, its products and where public explanation intentionally ends.
KEYWhat does Presence Key actually do?
Presence Key is a small personal physical device in development. It is designed to let a participating service check that the expected person and their Key are physically present for one specific payment, sign-in or access request. It does not make the final permission decision.
KEYWhat would I do with it?
After your Key has been set up for you, a participating service asks for a Presence check. You present your Key at an enabled physical checkpoint. The result relates to that request, and the service applies its own permissions, limits and safeguards. The final user experience depends on validation and integration.
KEYWill it work with my existing cards, doors and accounts?
Not automatically. A service needs to integrate Presence and support the required physical check. Access, payment and sign-in examples are intended future experiences, not a list of integrations available today. The Key is planned for 2027; a free reservation records interest, not an order or guaranteed shipment.
KEYDoes a successful check approve an action by itself?
No. Presence is designed to provide evidence of physical participation for a particular request. Presence alone does not establish informed consent, legal authority or permission. The service must still apply its own approval rules and other safeguards.
01What is 4SI?
4SI is developing physical trust infrastructure: a system intended to connect people, products and critical assets to trusted digital decisions through physically anchored verification.
02What does “physical trust infrastructure” mean?
It means that an important digital decision can depend on evidence rooted in a physical person, object or environment — rather than relying exclusively on information that can be copied, generated or emulated digitally.
03Does 4SI replace cryptography, identity systems or blockchains?
No. 4SI is positioned as an additional trust layer. Existing systems can protect records, communications and workflows; physical verification can strengthen the connection between those systems and the real-world entity they represent.
04What are Presence Key, Presence Layer and Presence Home?
Presence Key is a personal physical device designed to check that you are present for a specific action. Presence Layer addresses products and physical objects. Presence Home is a longer-horizon direction for trusted people, places and things. Product scope and maturity differ.
05Which applications is Presence designed for?
Presence is designed for experiences such as access, sign-in, payments, mobility, travel, product authenticity and account recovery. Availability and integration requirements vary by product, partner and market.
06Is the technology explained publicly?
The public site explains the problem, trust path, Presence products, applications and evaluation logic. Protected mechanisms, sensitive architecture, raw verification data and detailed performance material are not disclosed publicly.
07What does “designed for post-quantum environments” mean?
It describes the objective of preserving a physically anchored source of trust as cryptographic conditions evolve. It is not a blanket claim that every surrounding component is automatically quantum-safe; those claims require specific architecture and validation.
08How could 4SI relate to autonomous AI systems?
A physical verification event could become one policy input before an autonomous system performs a sensitive action. The broader control system must still define authority, scope, exceptions, logging and governance.
09What is the privacy approach?
Privacy requirements depend on the deployment. The public design principle is data minimization: expose only the verification result and context necessary for the authorized decision, while controlling enrollment and lifecycle access.
10Can Presence integrate with existing enterprise systems?
4SI Enterprise is designed to connect Presence outcomes to existing identity, policy, transaction and operational workflows through controlled integration boundaries. Presence Home remains the personal experience across trusted people, places and things.
11How should an organization evaluate Presence?
Begin with a concrete trust failure. Define the adversary, the physical or digital claim at risk, the authority path and the consequence of a false decision. Technical evaluation should then test the specific claims relevant to that boundary.
12How can an organization engage with 4SI?
Qualified organizations can request strategic access. Initial discussions focus on the operating environment and trust problem; deeper deployment or technical material follows through an appropriate controlled process.
